The Apartheid Museum

A few hours at the Apartheid Museum will make you feel as though you were part of the '70s and '80s township violence, dodging police bullets and teargas canisters, or marching and toyi-toyiing with thousands of school children, or carrying the body of a comrade into a nearby house.

This extraordinarily powerful museum, one of Johannesburg's most important tourist attractions, has become a "must see!"  stop for tourists.

The Museum, has many large blown-up photographs, metal cages and TV monitors screening replays of historic apartheid scenes, all set in a double volume environment of concrete, red brick walls and grey concrete floor. The museum is next door to the Gold Reef City Casino.
